Dmitry, a biologist.
What was your previous job?
Although I am a biologist, I have never worked in this professional field for many reasons. For instance, small salary and weak demand for such professionals in our country.
Why did you decide to change your profession?
I think every person eventually faces the need for changes in life. Right now I am among such people. That is why I have decided to change my profession.
Why did you choose to become a software tester?
My friends who work in IT companies recommended not to miss such an opportunity. Besides, I had read a lot about this profession in the Internet. The interest towards software testing grew due to the possibility of rapid career growth, decent salary, the opportunity to develop in the IT sphere and improvement of my English skills.
Why did you select QA Academy?
I have collected the feedback on the company, it was only positive. The price was acceptable. What ’s more, the location of the company office suited me as well.
Could you please describe the educational process? What were the major bottlenecks? Did the tutors help to overcome them?
The educational process was difficult, but interesting. The tutor lent a hand. I was to listen carefully to him. However, despite the complicated material my tutor explained everything in a clear and easy-to-understand manner. What were the major obstacles? During internship all the tasks were in English and my level was somewhere around PI. In addition, the deadlines were often short and I had to prepare tasks quickly. It was tough as I had no prior experience. That’s why the quality level of my work suffered at the beginning. Nevertheless, my technical supervisors helped to overcome all the bottlenecks.
What project are you currently working on?
I’m involved in testing mobile applications on Android and iOS.
Do you have any regrets concerning you career change?
I have no regrets. I got an invaluable experience. I am eager to finish my probation period as soon as possible and become a full-fledged employee of the company.
Vladislava, a technical translator.
What was your previous job?
Previously I was working as a deputy head and administrator of the office.
Why did you decide to change your profession?
I cannot say that I have dramatically changed my profession. I have been engaged into a startup project for 3 years. Except for my common responsibilities, I also had to test the product’s final version. Therefore, my current job is closely related to the previous one.
Why did you choose to become a software tester?
Nothing can be more splendid than the opportunity to plunge into a favorite activity. Software testing is exactly such a possibility for me. I know for sure that it’s my score of a lifetime.
Why did you select QA Academy?
The answer is contextual advertising. When I was looking for a course to enroll, Facebook advertising captured my eyesight. I read the conditions and reviews and decided to try.
Could you please describe the educational process? What were the major bottlenecks? Did the tutors help to overcome them?
We participated in webinars on various theoretical topics and received feedback on our assignments. The major difficulty for me was to find time for preparation as at that moment I lacked it dramatically. The tutor answered questions during lectures and commented on mistakes in our assignments. I always had an opportunity to ask the questions that appeared during my preparation.
What project are you currently working on?
I’m working on an e-commerce website.
Do you have any regrets concerning you career change?
I am an interpreter. I changed my profession 4 years ago, and I don’t regret about it at all.
